My Top 10 Halloween Appropriate Films

Let me preface this by saying, I’m no horror geek. I don’t collect campy, low-budget chiller flicks (okay, I do own Killer Clowns From Outer Space and Shaun of the Dead) and I absolutely hate slasher films.

I do, however, appreciate the occasional early movie based on classic literature of the gothic genre; I’ve included several below.

So, in no particular order…here goes:

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

An American Werewolf in London

Rosemary’s Baby

Blair Witch Project— This film is frozen in time; each time I watch it, it’s always 1999– ha! there I go again, bustin’ a fresh rhyme.

Dracula: Dead and Loving It— It’s Mel Brooks. Mel. Brooks.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Amityville Horror (1978)

Frankenstein

House of 1000 Corpses

Halloween (1978)

And there you have it.

You know what?  1978 really delivered the goods.

Send me yours, but be warned: lists that include Cloverfield or The Shining will be saved and re-posted at a later date for public ridicule purposes.

Happy Halloween!
