I know it’s a beautiful day, but I’m trading skin cancer for eye strain this afternoon.
AMC is showing a Chevy Chase marathon ALL DAY today hosted by the One and Only King of 80’s dry humor.
I’ll be in my comfort zone most of the day eating pineapple, taking liberal sips of the new Rangpur Tanqueray and faithfully watching (for the 297th time).
The line-up includes:
“The Three Amigos” (1986), “Fletch” (1985), “Fletch Lives” (1989) and the first two “Vacation” flicks. (1983 & ’85)
(one question: where the hell are “Caddyshack” & “Funny Farm”?)
All complaining aside, this should be enough to warm a child of the 80’s heart.
if 80’s comedy is your poison, (it’s definitely mine), check out OnDemand; they’ve created a delightful new category called “Name That Comedy”.
“Parenthood” (’89), “Sixteen Candles” (’84), and “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (’82) are among the movies featured.
You should be all set now…”all you need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and you’ll be fine”.
If you are under the age of 28 and know the origin of the above quote, good for you for embracing the annoyingly “hip” 80’s revival that has been sweeping the nation for the last five years or so (thanks a lot, VH-1).
If you’re over the age of 28, you should know it because you lived it.
